EMotorad, a Pune-based startup, is all set to launch its second e-bike, the T-Rex, later this month. This hardtail bike will be the brand’s second product, following the launch of its flagship e-bike, the EMX.

While the EMX is a hardcore trail bike, the T-Rex has been conceptualised to be a more of an everyday ride and hence skips the rear monoshock of the former. The company, however, states that it chose to keep the front suspension to make the ride more comfortable on bad roads.

The adjustable front suspension, coupled with a lightweight aluminum frame makes the e-bike easier to live with. Adding to that is the 250W Brushless DC (BLDC) hub motor mounted on the rear wheel capable of producing 374 watts (0.5PS). The bike is capable of achieving a top speed of 25kmph.

The motor is paired to a 36V 7.8Ah battery that takes up to four hours to charge from zero to full. Once fully charged, the battery can last up to 60km on pedal assist mode and 35-40kms when using the throttle. For convenience, the battery is detachable and can be charged using any regular plug point.

EMotorad has equipped the T-Rex with an LCD display that shows the battery charge levels, distance, pedal assist level and more. Other hardware on the T-Rex include a Shimano 7-speed derailleur and LED lights at the front and rear to aid visibility. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends.

The price hasn’t been announced yet, however, it could be priced around Rs. 45,000 and can be pre-ordered through their website. EMotorad is also offering EMI plans to garner more customers.
