He will oversee the design of various segments as a part of Mahindra’s vast roadmap for the future

In what comes as a major announcement, Mahindra Group has appointed Pratap Bose as Executive Vice President and Chief Design Officer to lead its newly formed Global Design organisation. If Bose’s previous stint with Tata Motors is anything to go by, we’re in for an exciting lineup of Mahindra models.

Pratap Bose brings in a vast amount of automotive design experience. In his 14 years at Tata Motors as Global Design Head, he brought Tata’s portfolio of hatchbacks, sedans, SUV, and even CVs together into one design family. Among them, five iconic designs caught our eye: the Tiago, Nexon, Hexa, the TaMo RaceMo concept, as well as the more recent Sierra EV concept.

Mahindra’s new Global Design organisation will consist of  the recently set up Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E) and the current Mahindra India Design Studio (M.I.D.S). This is where Pratap Bose comes in. He will lead both these departments and oversee the design of various segments, such as SUVs, Born Electric Vehicle (BEV), LCV products (under <3.5 T), Last Mile Mobility (LMM), large CVs, Peugeot Scooters (France) as well as tractors and farm machines.

Mahindra is set to launch nine new SUVs by 2026, including the third-gen Scorpio, second-gen Bolero, five-door Thar, the XUV700, the W620 SUV (possibly XUV900), the V201, the next-gen XUV300 as well as two dedicated all-electric SUVs codenamed Born EV1 and Born EV2.
