Having brought you exclusive details of the Leoncino 800 ahead of its launch today, we can now tell you that Benelli will also be unveiling a more off-road oriented version of the bike. This variant will be called the Leoncino 800 Trail, and it features some key difference which will help it when the road gets rough, or ceases to exist altogether.
Long-travel suspension is present at both ends on the Trail. While the front fork is still a 50mm USD unit from Marzocchi, it gets 140mm of travel on the Trail, 10mm more than the standard variant. Wheel travel is identical at the rear as well, standing at 140mm compared to the standard bike’s 130mm.
While the Leoncino 800 rolls on 17-inch wheels at either end, the Trail gets a 19-inch front to help it glide over undulations. Wheels on the Trail are wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally dual-purpose tyres to ensure adequate grip when the going gets rough. A Scrambler-style twin exhaust system gives the Trail a more rugged appearance.
The rest of the bike remains unchanged, meaning the same 754cc parallel-twin motor from the 752S. In the Leoncinos, though, the engine is Euro 5-compliant and produces 81.6PS and 67Nm. Brembo monobloc calipers bite on twin-320mm discs up front, and a fully-digital TFT instrument cluster is standard.
Unfortunately, we don’t expect Benelli to bring this variant of the Leoncino 800 to India. That being said, the standard bike should reach our shores sometime next year at a price tag of approximately Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
