In the past, TVS has hinted at an ADV offering for India

TVS has upped the ante in the 200cc motorcycle segment by launching the new Apache RTR 200 4V with a bunch of segment-first features. The Hosur-based two-wheeler giant has many more surprises in store for us bikers as it has just filed a trademark for the name ‘Raider’. As expected, TVS hasn’t shared any details about the new product, but if we had to guess, it could be an adventure tourer. TVS has a rich history in Indian motocross with multiple championship wins to its name so the TVS Raider does make sense as a product.

TVS also competes in various rallying events across the world including Dakar. So, a TVS ADV motorcycle seems like a logical step for the brand. Unlike the BMW G 310 GS, we think the TVS Raider could be more of an entry-level ADV motorcycle on the lines of the Hero XPulse 200. It could feature similar functional styling with more focus on usability than flair.

The Raider ADV bike could be powered by a 200-250cc oil-cooled single-cylinder motor to provide adequate power at an affordable price. It might be more off-road focused with knobby tyres, large spoke wheels and high ground clearance. TVS might also bring the Raider in two variants like the XPulse 200 and the XPulse 200T.

As we mentioned, the above is just speculation. If the TVS Raider does meet the above pointers, it could be priced around Rs 1.50 to 1.60 lakh. At this price, it could bridge the gap between the Hero Xpulse 200 and the Royal Enfield Himlayan. Watch this space for more updates.
