Electric propulsion is slowly yet steadily making its way into the world of bicycles, but while most e-bicycles tend to make a big dent in the bank account, Felidae Electric is offering a pedal-assist e-bike for just Rs 24,500. Called the Maven, it sports a 250W/32Nm BLDC hub motor to assist your legs. You also get five levels of electric assistance and an assisted top speed of up to 25kmph.
Felidae says that with the help of electric power, you can traverse a 22-degree gradient, and the Maven will assist you for a range of 35-50km, after which you’ll have to rely on your legs alone. Once it runs dry, the Maven will need 3.5 hours to top up again. During this time, you can admire the 19-inch chromoly steel frame and 27.5-inch aluminium wheels. All that results in a kerb weight of 21kg.
Underpinnings include a telescopic fork and disc brakes at both ends to stop you. There is no suspension at the rear. Felidae does offer an LED indicator to inform you about battery life and the pedal assist level that you are using. The motor comes with a 2-year warranty while all the remaining electrical components get a 1-year warranty.
