At 830PS, the V12 engine makes 30PS more than the standard model, with a rev limit of 9.500rpm.
Other gains come from weight loss, independent four-wheel steering, and version 7.0 of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system.
Gets a revised body thanks to an aggressive front end, larger rear diffuser, aluminium rear panel with vortex generators and more.
Further details including the name of this special edition model will be revealed on May 5.
We all know that the model that sits atop the ‘Prancing Horse’ stable is the 812 Superfast. Well, the folks at Maranello have decided to make the flagship Ferrari, even more ‘Superfast’ with a special edition trim. While this limited-run 812 Superfast will get a name on May 5, it definitely seems to back up Ferrari’s claims of being the ‘ultimate expression of Ferrari’s concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta.'
The talk of town is under the hood. It’s V12 motor pushes a whopping 830PS of outright grunt, which is 30PS more than the standard 812 Superfast. Combine that with a rev limit of 9,500rpm, and it's the most powerful and highest revving internal combustion-engined Ferrari model ever.
It’s unclear whether the special 812 Superfast’s V12 retains the standard model's 6.5-litre displacement, but Ferrari has revealed modifications to the engine that contributed to its boosted grunt. This includes redesigning many key engine components, a new valve timing mechanism and a new exhaust system. As a result, this should result in a significant improvement over the standard model’s 2.9 second 0-100kmph sprint time and 340kmph top speed.
Other performance gains come from independent steering on all four wheels, as well as version 7.0 of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system. It has also gone on a diet with more use of carbon fibre materials.
The spicier 812 Superfast also looks racier, with an aggressively revised body. Up front you get a carbon fibre blade running across the bonnet to make the car look shorter and wider. That is complemented by larger air intakes, a more prominent front lip spoiler and an aero fin around the corners of the front bumper to better optimize airflow. At the rear, there are a variety of vents on the rear arches, a more prominent spoiler and a more aggressive diffuser. What’s more, the rear glass has been replaced with an aluminium panel with vortex generators to improve aero efficiency.
Heading inside, it remains largely similar to the standard model, aside from a new door panel to reduce weight and an H-gate theme on the tunnel for that racier feel.
While the remaining details of this special edition of the Ferrari 812 Superfast will be revealed on May 5, the current details already provide a mouth-watering prospect to the flagship model.
