Fiat Brazil has teased the replacement for the Linea in their market. Christened the Cronos, a teaser video shows small details of the new sedan. Like the Linea before it, it looks like a three-box version of a hatchback. However, it looks very much like the Argo with a shapely boot added to it. Details shown include the silhouette of the car, the headlights, taillights and the sculpted hood. The Cronos is to the Argo what the Linea is to the Grande Punto.
If Fiat decides to bring the sedan to India, the Cronos will be packed with features to take on the likes of the popular Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The Fiat Cronos could be offered with projector headlamps, sedate alloy wheels, LED taillamps, etc. The teaser shows that the Cronos has grown quite significantly in terms of length when compared to the Fiat Argo thanks to a larger rear door and the addition of the boot.
The Cronos sold in Brazil will be powered by two petrol/ethanol engines - a 1.3-litre unit and a 1.8-litre unit. In India, Fiat has the option of continuing to use the Fiat Linea’s powertrain, which includes a 1.4-litre 90PS/115Nm petrol, a 1.4-litre 125PS/208Nm petrol and a 1.3-litre 93PS/209Nm diesel engine. For now, there is no confirmation from Fiat if it will indeed bring the Cronos to India. More details about the Cronos are awaited.
