Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
One of the biggest talking points of the Auto Expo was Maruti’s first foray into the compact SUV segment, the Vitara Brezza. The Indian manufacturer has claimed the car to be its first product built from the ground-up in India. The car will be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine whereas the petrol model has not yet been announced. As we had reported earlier, the car will be on the roads by the first week of March with the top-end model costing around Rs 9.5 lakh.
Tata Hatchback (Zica)
Tata took a step towards revamping its brand image by lifting the curtain over its new hatchback in December last year. However, it hit an unfortunate road bump as the erstwhile Zica moniker of the car resembled that of a virus that has become a global health threat. Expected to come with a fresh nametag, the erstwhile Zica will house a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol unit under the hood, while the diesel mill will be a 1.05-litre one. Expect the car to be priced at around Rs 4.5 lakh for the entry-level variant.
Skoda Superb
The 2016 Superb is all set to be launched in India on February 23. The swanky sedan is expected to come with the 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre TSI petrol mills, along with the 2.0-litre TDI unit as engine options in India. The Czech carmaker earlier teased its good-looking new car in an animated video and recently added more fuel to the fire by revealing a few pictures on its website. The car is expected to be priced starting from Rs 22 lakh.
Honda BR-V
The Japanese automaker will be entering the fast-growing crossover space in India with the new BR-V. The car that was showcased at the Auto Expo will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Ford Ecosport for supremacy in this segment. Doing duty on the car will be Honda’s renowned 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engines from the City. The car is expected to start bookings by the end of March and will be priced in the Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh region.
Tata Hexa
As a part of its image reinvention strategy, Tata unveiled several new cars at the Expo, including the Hexa concept that will go into production soon. It will essentially replace the Aria and will sport a neat and edgy design for a Tata car. The Tata Hexa gets the same 2.2-litre engine from the Aria, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, which in turn is mated to both a rear wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. It is set to be launched by the last week of March at a starting price of around Rs 18 lakh.
