2021 Force Gurkha Launch On September 27, To Rival Thar and The Upcoming Jimny

Force Motors has confirmed that the 2021 Gurkha will be launched on September 27. Deliveries will commence on October 15, the auspicious day of Dussehra. By this time, you already know all the relevant details from our in-depth report on the unveiling of the Gurkha. 

The SUV is Force Motor’s answer to the Mahindra Thar. It’s based on an updated body-on-frame platform and gets a host of tricks to aid off-roading. The Gurkha’s highlight reel is its manual locking differentials on the front and rear axle. For context, the Thar gets ESP-based differential on the front axle and mechanical locking at the rear. 

 That said, while the Gurkha might have the larger 2.6-litre diesel engine, its 91PS and 250Nm aren’t any match for the Thar’s 130PS-producing 2.2-litre diesel. Also, the Gurkha comes paired with only a 5-speed manual. However, the Force scores brownie points for how it treats its emissions, eliminating the need for AdBlue tech (a urea and water-based solution that helps to reduce harmful exhaust gases). 

Now, to the features. The SUV comes with all the necessities, including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front power windows, and a four-speaker sound system. Passengers are secured by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and tyre pressure monitoring. 

The Gurkha will be offered in only one variant and likely be priced around Rs 13 lakh. The off-roader will rival the Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
