Following the launch of the Figo petrol automatic, Ford is gearing up to do the same with the sub-4m sedan based on the Figo, the Aspire. The automatic versions of both models were discontinued back in early-2020.
The Aspire will feature the same 96PS 1.2-litre petrol engine as the Figo, mated with the same 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox from the EcoSport. The automatic was earlier offered with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, but was axed with the discontinuation of the engine. Like in the Figo, the manual mode will be activated by buttons on the gear knob. You can check out more details on the Figo AT here to get a better idea of how it will feel in the Aspire.
Since the Aspire is just offered in two Titanium trims, expect both to get the automatic transmission. Like the Figo, it should be priced at a premium over the manual variants (up to Rs 93,000 in the Figo). Ford is likely to launch the Aspire AT soon.
The Aspire currently retails from Rs 7.27 lakh to Rs 8.27 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes against other sub-4m sedans such as the Maruti Dzire, Tata Tigor, and the Honda Amaze.
