Ford’s full-size SUV gets a makeover for 2019 with more features

  • 2019 Ford Endeavour set to be launched on February 22.
  • Ford dealers have begun accepting unofficial bookings.
  • To be offered with same powertrains as before.
  • Ford could reintroduce the manual variant as well.

Ford’s rugged behemoth on four wheels, the Endeavour, is all set to get an update for 2019. The Toyota Fortuner rival will receive upgraded looks and additional features. Set to go on sale on February 22, you can now book the popular SUV (unofficially for now) at Ford’s dealerships for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.

As reported earlier, the changes to the Endeavour are expected to be purely cosmetic in nature. These include all-new headlamps with longer LED DRLs, a revised front grille, new fog lamp surrounds with a silver element for the lower half of the front bumper, and new alloy wheels.

The Endeavour facelift is likely to pack more features inside the cabin as well. Amongst the biggest additions is likely to be push-button start/stop, which is missing on the current model.

Mechanically, the 2019 Endeavour will continue to be powered by the same 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre diesel engines as before. The 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder unit produces 160PS of power and 385Nm of peak torque, while the 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder unit churns out 200PS and 470Nm. However, unlike the old Endeavour, we could see the return of the 6-speed manual gearbox in the 2019 version of the SUV. At present, both engines come mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 4X4 option is limited to the 3.2-litre variant and that’s unlikely to change with the Endeavour facelift.

The Endeavour facelift is likely to be priced in the same range as the existing model, which ranges from Rs 26.83 lakh to Rs 33.31 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The 2019 Endeavour will rekindle its rivalry with the best-selling Toyota Fortuner and the Skoda Kodiaq, among various other ladder-on-frame and monocoque SUVs.
