This Ganesh Chathurthi, Ford looks up to the Vighnaharta to ensure safety for all car owners. In collaboration with Workshop Q and with a little help from artists Madhvi Pittie and Nishant Sudhakaran, Ford turned spare parts into a big, 6.5-feet tall avatar of Lambodar. The idol is made from disc brakes, fenders, spark plugs, clutch plates, chains, crankshafts, drive chains and a lot more parts from the catalogue. While some parts could be welded together straightaway, others needed some brute force to attain the right shape before they could grace the Gaurikumra's statue.
Ford also installed a 12-camera setup at the venue to allow visitors to click a 180-degree photo with the Chaturbhuja. Uploading the selfie to social networks with the hashtag #SelfieWithFordGanesha made them eligible to win a miniature version of the same idol, also made with Ford spares.
Saurabh Makhija, the general manager of sales at Ford, unveiled the figure of the Akhuratha, which was open for public viewing during the last weekend at Oberoi Mall, Goregaon. While unveiling the unique creation, Makhija said, "Safety is not an option but a priority for us at Ford. With the unique installation of Lord Ganesha, we want to highlight the significance of using genuine parts while servicing to ensure the well-being of their loved ones. Having expanded the distribution of spare-parts through retail stores, we have not only ensured that our genuine parts are always within your reach but also the convenience of getting the Ford serviced wherever you want."
Madhvi Pittie from Workshop Q said, “As a green product design company, we often experiment with discarded objects and materials from the city’s streets, factories, households and proud to have made a beginning with auto spare parts – thanks to the challenge given by Ford."
We're praying Bappa blesses Ford India in their Endeavour. Because, as we know, Ganpati blesses only those who seek, nay Aspire. Okay, enough puns. We must Figo now.
