While we’ve already witnessed Ford unveiling the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, customers will have to wait until 2020 to get their hands on it. That gives Ford some time to iron out any niggles. And that’s exactly what is happening as a test mule has been spied in Michigan, US, albeit in a right-hand drive setup. This could be the Euro-spec version of the Mach E since US regulations mandate left-hand drive setups in vehicles. Could this also spell an India debut in the near future?
The images show design elements of a Euro-spec Mach-E with a larger licence plate holder. The test mule also sports an odd body shade combination of blacked-out bumpers and tailgate in an all-white body. It is unlikely that this colour combination will be available in the SUV when launched. Instead, it could be more like a swap of different specification bumpers for testing purposes.
The Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s first SUV in the Mustang lineup in its 55 year history. It is available in five versions: Select, California Route 1, Premium, First Edition, and GT. Some standout features include a panoramic fixed glass roof, Ford’s next-gen 15.5-inch SYNC infotainment system, and Co-Pilot 360 2.0 driver assistance technology. Under the hood, the Mach-E is as ‘Mustang’ as you can get with a power output of 459PS/830Nm in the GT variant and a range extending all the way to 482km.
Pre-bookings are already underway with deliveries for both the US and European regions slated for late 2020. It is priced from USD 40,000 (Rs 28.68 lakh) to around USD 60,000 (Rs 43 lakh). The Mach-E will take on the likes of the Tesla Model Y once launched.
