Ford rewards winners of the 'All-new Fiesta Photography Contest'

Ford gave India its first peek at the new generation Ford Fiesta at the Fiesta Café in New Delhi earlier this month, and while the aggressive youth inspired look of Ford’s soon to be launched B-segment premium sedan caught the fancy of many, Ford India decided to give the excitement and anticipation surrounding the cars arrival in India some artistic direction, when they announced the ‘All-new Ford Fiesta Photography Contest’ a week before the actual unveiling of the car.

The contest, which accepted entries from May 7th – May 15th attracted immense participation, and was open to all amateur photographers residing in India, who shot the all-new Fiesta sedan at the Fiesta Café’ and tried to bring alive the experience through their camera lens. 

The photographs of all the participants were screened, and twelve contested were short-listed. Photographs shot by them were uploaded on photo-sharing website Flickr.com on May 19th, 2011. The entries attracted huge interest with over 360,000 views in just 7 days. Visitors viewed and voted for their favourite photos. Mr. Madhavan Pillai, Editor, Better Photography, along with some Ford executives then selected the final winner, who took home a cash prize of Rs 2,00,000.

Elated at his photography being picked as the best of the lot, winner Gaurav Chauhan, a Mass Communications graduate from Punjab Technical University, said “I am thrilled that my entry was adjudged the best! The Fiesta's amazing Kinetic Design, especially its aggressive front grill and its flowing lines were the inspiration behind my photograph.”

Vice President of Consumer Marketing, Ford India, Anurag Mehrotra, who handed over the awards to the winners, added “We hope the Fiesta's new best in segment features like Voice-controlled interface, Cruise Control and class-leading fuel-efficiency will endear it to our customers in India."

All contestants also received a 32GB SDHC memory card as a token of appreciation for their participation in the competition. The top 10 photos determined by online voting on Flickr are being showcased at Fiesta Café in New Delhi.
