While the floods have receded in the Maximum City and North East India, its effects persist. The recent floods have left many car owners in Mumbai and Vapi without a set of wheels impairing their ability to perform day-to-day tasks.
Ford has now announced plans to help its customers affected by the downpour living in and around Mumbai. The carmaker has announced that it'll pay half of the owner liability for spare parts in case of an insurance claim, but the maximum amount it can afford per customer hasn’t been announced yet. The management has dispatched surveyors from neighbouring areas to the flood-affected zones for faster claim settlement. The service centres have also stretched their working hours to deliver faster turnaround times.
Affected customers can also avail free engine oil replacement, a 50 per cent discount on labour charges for parts not covered under warranty. Customers can get an anti-rust coating for the car’s underbody at a discount of 50 per cent too. If the repairs are likely to take more than a day, then Ford owners can also avail a 20 per cent discount on renting a self-drive vehicle from Zoomcar.
N Prabhu, vice president of customer service, said, "At Ford, we are committed to treating our customers like members of our own family. We understand that unexpected floods would have caused financial strain to some of our customers and are happy to assist them”.
Ford isn’t the only manufacturer to offer support to flood-affected customers. Manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Hyundai too have set up toll-free numbers for roadside assistance and discounts on spare parts and service costs.
