What we have here is a video teaser from Ford which shows the design sketch of the upcoming all-electric Mustang-inspired SUV. First teased around January this year, Ford’s upcoming electric vehicle (EV) was also spied a couple of times, although with heavy camouflage. It was codenamed the Mach 1 but that was soon dropped due to an outcry from Blue Oval fans. Further technical details about the electric SUV are still under wraps but we do know that it will be capable of doing a maximum range of 480+ km and will be globally unveiled on November 17.
The short video shows the design sketches and clay models of the SUV and ends with the silhouette and the global debut date. Various rumours point towards Ford using the Mach E name but it is yet to be confirmed. The design sketch leans more towards an SUV coupe/ crossover than a full blown SUV. The roof line sweeps down like in coupe’s and various Stang cues can be made out from the sketch.
The Mustang-inspired SUV will mark Ford’s electrification plans which will also spawn various other electrified models by the next two years. Ford, although a bit late to the EV party, seems to be well prepared to make the transition. The American brand has invested a huge sum into R&D of electric vehicles and has also joined hands with Volkswagen to develop EVs.
The all-electric SUV will be first available for European and North American markets from mid-2020. Ford will start accepting orders from November 17 right after the world premiere.
