The Federation Of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI) awards were held in Delhi to honour Indian motorsport competitors on two and four wheels with Honorable Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Kiren Rijiju being the chief guest. The awards function saw over 110 national champions receive their championship trophies and were awarded special accolades as well.
Gaural Gill, who created history by becoming the first motorsport athlete to be awarded the Arjuna Award, received a special award for the accomplishment. 17 year old Yash Aradhya also was given accolades for being the first-ever motorsport athlete to win Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar.
Other special recognitions included Jehan Daruvala who has recently signed with the Red Bull junior programme and will compete in the FIA Formula 2 championship later this month. Asian Le Mans Series race winner Arjun Maini and FIM Asia Cup of Road Race podium winner Abhimanyu Gautam were also recognised for their performances in the international area.
Lal Nunsunga was awarded the Upcoming Motorsport Person of the Year’ award with a strong 2019 season that included 7 podium finishes in the IDEMITSU Honda Talent Cup. India’s first Formula One racer, and Padma Shri recipient Narain Karthikeyan’s race win in the Japan Super GT championship earned him the ‘Outstanding Achievements in World Motorsports Award’.
