Ever since its launch, the EcoSport has changed the game for Ford thanks to its butch looks, great ride quality and high ground clearance. But at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Ford gives us a closer look at what is the updated EcoSport. Aside from the refreshed version, the EcoSport S also shared the limelight with its twin.
In the updated version, the EcoSport loses the tailgate-mounted spare wheel and now sports a redesigned bumper. A tyre mobility kit will be supplied by Ford but the spare wheel will be optional. The kit essentially comprises of an electric air compressor with a gauge that not only fills the tyre will air but also oozes sealant into it.
Ford also claims that the new EcoSport will have improved ride and handling despite the increase in the ride height of 10mm. The steering system has also been improved and the EcoSport will now come with Electronic Stability Control and retuned suspension.
Not much has changed on the inside except for the instrument cluster and a new colour for the Sync screen. The handbrake position too has been changed for ease of use. Noise insulation on the inside too has been bettered with the use of thicker sound deadening materials in the doors, dashboard and pedals.
And then there is a boost of 5PS in the TDCI as well as the EcoBoost engines. The American manufacturer has kept mum about the launch of the new EcoSport in India as yet.
