Audi is all set to debut its smallest offering in the Q range of cars at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. But before it pulls the wraps, the Ingolstadt brand seems to be building hype around it fairly well. A few days back, the company released a teaser image that showed the Q7, Q5 and the Q3 parked in the order of size, with a reserved place for a new model. Now, Audi has have released a new video.
The video shows the Q2 being driven over an unexplored path but from a overhead angle which makes it difficult to figure the styling details. That being said, it is safe to assume that the Q2 will get the hexagonal Audi signature grille, the scrolling turn indicators and the Matrix headlamps in the top-spec models.
The Q2 will be based on Volkswagen’s flexible MQB platform that also underpins cars like the Skoda Octavia and the Volkswagen Passat. The lower spec variants of the Q2 will come with standard front-wheel whereas the top-end trim might just come with Quattro. Internationally the Q2 will come with several engine options including a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder motor, however in India it is expected to come with either the 1.2-litre TSI or the 1.4-litre TSI. There will also be a diesel trim on offer which will sport the 2.0-litre TDI unit.
The Q2 will go in sale in the European market in the second half of 2016, but in India it is only expected to come in early 2017. Expect Audi to bring in the Q2 at Rs 22 lakh for the base variant and Rs 30 lakh for the top-end diesel trim.
