The GT Concept is a four-door coupe that makes use of a hybrid powertrain and other clever technologies

The GT Concept has smooth, flowing lines and an athletic stance, just like the AMG GT

Yes, you read that right! The sedan concept from Mercedes-Benz, based on the AMG GT's platform, looks great. The German carmaker showcased the concept today as a part of its 50th anniversary celebration. The GT Concept is built on an elongated AMG GT platform and features some clever bit of technology to go with its great looks.

The GT Concept has a hybrid powertrain (a V8 engine up front and an electric motor at the back) that has combined output of 800PS. It makes use of all-wheel drive to put that power to the ground and is able to blast from 0-100kmph in less than 3 seconds. To tackle corners effectively, the GT Concept features torque vectoring.

The GT Concept can be driven in electric only, petrol engine only and hybrid modes. To go with this car's powertrain, the roof, front spoiler, rear diffuser and side sill panels have been made from carbon fibre. The GT Concept has carbon ceramic brakes with bronze brake calipers. The GT Concept has a high performance battery pack to power the electric motor at the back. The car keeps charging it on the move to ensure full power is available whenever required.

The GT Concept is the second AMG vehicle, after the F1-derived hypercar, to bear the EQ Power+ designation. This designation will be reserved for all high performance models from Mercedes-AMG in future. Other technologies the car has are laser lights and use of nano active fibre technology for DRLs and taillamps. The GT Concept utilises the grille of the new AMG GT. It has moving radiator shutters and side air intakes, technology directly lifted from AMG GT R.

The front end of the GT Concept is similar but still different than that of the AMG GT
