General Motors had launched the facelifted version of the Chevrolet Cruze in 2016 on 30th January with a starting price of Rs 14.68 lakh. Now, within a span of one month, the American manufacturer has dropped the price of the premium sedan by up to Rs 86,000 depending on the variants. General Motors wants to make its premium sedan offering more value for money as it currently faces stiff competition in the market against the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta, and the Skoda Octavia.
The facelifted Chevrolet Cruze is offered in three variants across the country. The base variant is now cheaper by Rs 73,000 while the top-end variant is lighter on the pocket by Rs 80,000. The automatic variant of the Cruze gets the maximum discount of Rs 86,000 on the retail price.
The changes to the facelifted Cruze are mainly concentrated to the cosmetics of the premium sedan. The refreshed Cruze gets an all-new grille with horizontal chrome lines and LED daytime running lights which are located under the projector headlamps. The car gets new front and rear bumpers. At the rear Chevrolet has equipped the Cruze with a lip spoiler on the trunk to give it a sportier look.
The changes are prominent on the interiors as well with new MyLink touchscreen infotainment system located in the centre console. Other additions are internet radio, Bluetooth, automatic climate control and a SIRI voice recognition interface.
Mechanically, the facelift Cruze has not undergone any changes to the powertrain and continues to be powered by the 2.0-litre four-pot diesel engine which produces 166PS of power and 360Nm of torque. Transmission options are a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Petrol variant is still not available for the premium sedan offering.
With the revised figures, the new Chevrolet Cruze now comes at a starting price of Rs 13.95 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the base variant and Rs 16.95 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the top variant.
