Haima, along with GWM, were two Chinese manufacturer that made their India debut at the expo

Auto Expo 2020 saw a couple of Chinese manufacturers make their debut in India. Among them was FAW Haima. While it didn’t have as big of a showcase as the other debutant - Great Wall Motors - it had some head turners. The lineup consisted of the 7X MPV and 8S SUV with the Bird Electric spearheading its EV showcase. Here’s all about them in detail:

7X

This MPV could be the carmaker’s answer to the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta. Look closer and you notice that it borrows many styling cues from Mercedes, Audi, and BMW models on the outside and inside. A 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops 195PS of power powers the MPV. We know nothing about it’s launch timeline. However, if it does come to fruition, the 7X could arrive with an oil burner like the majority of MPVs sold in India.  Here’s more about it.

8S

The 8S midsize SUV was the other Haima model unveiled at Auto Expo 2020. It takes a variety of design cues from the MG Hector like the split headlamps. However, it is more stylish and proportionate in profile. It gets interior equipment like a floating touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument panel. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine, developing 195PS of power and 283Nm of torque. Here’s more about the midsize SUV.

It is also known as the Haima E1 in China. What’s more is that it will be heading to Indian shores in about a year. It sports design cues from hatchbacks like the WagonR, and comes with modern tech like a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. Under the hood, it is offered with 200km and 300km variants in China. However, we will get the 200km variant initially. It produces 95Nm out of a 20.42kWh battery pack, with a top speed of 120kmph.
