  • Love exclusive motorcycles? If so, this article would make perfect sense to you. Harley-Davidson, as part of its Hardwire strategy, has announced its new Icons Collection. It’s basically an annual programme that creates limited edition motorcycles based on some of the company's iconic designs or future renditions.

The business will present one or two models annually, with a single production run for each model. What Harley means by this is, it will never resume or repeat the production of that particular model, making it truly exclusive. Moreover, each customer will receive a numbered bike with a certificate of authenticity.

The first limited edition model to debut via Harley’s Icons Collection is the Electra Glide Revival, a proper retro-classic. It’ll be limited to just 1,500 numbered units, scheduled to reach authorized Harley-Davidson dealers by late April. The price? $29,199 equivalent to Rs 21.75 lakh.

The Revival edition is inspired by the 1969 Electra Glide. It features the iconic "batwing” fairing as an accessory, and a Birch White painted finish. The single color scheme inspired by the original 1969 colorway, accompanied with the dual tone fuel tank and the chrome skirt on the front fender complete the overall look.

Harley's Box GTS infotainment system with colour touchscreen powers two fairing-mounted speakers and features advanced navigation and hand and voice commands (when paired with a compatible headset). It even includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for convenience.

It gets distinctive design features such as a saddle with a black-and-white cover and a chrome rail, mounted over an adjustable coil spring and shock absorber. Aside from this, you have chrome laced wheels and wide whitewall tyres for a nostalgic look. There’s a substantial amount of chrome as well on the front fender rails, saddlebag rails, air filter cover, fork covers, and auxiliary lights.

The Electra Glide Revival is powered by a Milwaukee-Eight 1,868cc V-Twin engine producing a whopping 160Nm of peak torque at revs as low as 3250rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. And despite its looks, the bike comes packed with modern electronic aids such as cruise control, cornering ABS, electronic linked braking, traction and drag-torque slip control, and a hill hold assist function.

A single knob hydraulically adjusts the preload of the emulsion-technology rear shock absorbers for optimal ride and control. In terms of underpinnings, the Electra Glide Revival uses 49mm forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear with preload adjustability. Twin discs up front and a single disc at the rear help anchor the bike.

On a slightly different note, Harley-Davidson is back in India with its 2021 lineup. Unfortunately, the legendary Street 750 and Street Rod have been pulled off the shelves for the Indian market. The space is now occupied by the Pan America 1250 which comes in at a stonking price of Rs 16,90,000 (ex-showroom).
