The Custom 1250 is all set to debut next year

Back in 2018, Harley-Davidson disclosed its aggressive expansion plan, ‘More Roads To Harley-Davidson’, under which the American cruiser giant announced various bikes, including the Custom 1250. However, the brand’s diminishing popularity and financial woes forced it to axe the Bronx and Custom 1250. It now seems the cruiser-flat tracker-ish bike will make its global debut after all.

It’s powered by an all-new Revolution Max liquid-cooled, V-twin engine, as seen on the Harley-Davidson Pan America. While the ADV’s motor produces 147PS and 122Nm, we expect the Custom 1250 to be slightly detuned.

Styled in a typical Harley fashion, the Custom 1250 gets a flat, horizontal LED headlight unit, similar to what we’ve seen on the Fat Bob. The cruiser gets a flat tracker-style seat, chunky tyres and USD fork, and a scrambler-style twin-barrel high-slung exhaust.

The iconic US brand has been struggling for the last couple of years. After Matt Levatich stepped down as the CEO, the brand had scrapped its expansion programme. Under its ‘Rewire’ strategy, Harley decided to cut down on models and focus on the popular ones. In fact, it has also ventured in the e-bike business with the Serial 1 brand.

The Custom 1250 is likely to make its global debut by mid-2021 after the launch of the Pan America. Is it coming to India? Well, with Hero MotoCorp handling the sales and services for Harley, the bike will grace Indian shores in late-2021.
