While many of us dream of owning a big bike, cruisers or otherwise, the size of our wallets often brings us back to reality. However, Harley-Davidson’s latest venture might just be able to renew our hopes. Well, sort of. The Milwaukee-based two-wheeler manufacturer recently announced its plans of entering the used bike segment in India. The programme is set to roll out soon and Delhi is likely to be among the first cities to benefit from it.
Peter Mackenzie, the managing director of Harley-Davidson India and Greater China, has confirmed that the testing phase of the latest concept is well underway in many of its dealerships across the country. “The used bike business will enable us to attract more customers. Secondly, to enable people, perhaps who cannot afford a new Harley-Davidson, but at least get the right Harley-Davidson experience through an authorised dealership,” he said.
The iconic cruiser manufacturer also plans on opening a chain of apparel stores across the country soon. "We will be opening up more apparel stores in shopping malls so that customers connect and experience the Harley-Davidson brand. That is a major piece of strategy in growing this year," said Peter Mackenzie.
Harley-Davidson maintains a healthy influence in the country with over 27 dealerships spread across India. Depending on how Harley-Davidson decides to price its refurbished models, the latest move has the potential to attract new customers. A few months ago, Royal Enfield too entered this segment by inaugurating its first used-motorcycle showroom in Chennai. Click here to know more about it.
