Harley-Davidson has started an interesting initiative that gives an opportunity to bikers from across the world to give their suggestions to help shape the future of Project LiveWire. The programme has been christened Project LiveWire Experience tour and it has been started so that the American bikemaker gets insights from bikers on what they expect from its upcoming electric motorcycle. Part of the Project LiveWire Experience select consumers in Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States will get an opportunity to ride the of Project LiveWire electric concept bike and provide feedback on the bike. According to Harley-Davidson the involvement of customers will help them in development of its first electric motorcycle. The Project LiveWire Experience will be kick-started at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on February 25th.
Harley-Davidson had done a similar event in 2014 when around 6,800 bikers took demo rides of the Project LiveWire as part of a 30-stop tour across the United States and at a special consumer event for Latin American customers in Miami. Harley-Davidson had adopted a similar approach while developing the Street 750 when it interviewed young riders between the ages of 25 to 40. It was owing to this initiative Harley-Davidson employed a liquid-cooled motor, low saddle height and made it the lightest Harley-Davidson offering as these were among the primary feedbacks from consumers for the Street 750. Project LiveWire Experience tour seems to be a great programme by the American bikemaker as it’s the customers whose opinions should be heard as at the end of the day, they are the primary focus of the manufacturers.
Harley-Davidson Chief Marketing Officer, Mark-Hans Richer said, “Project LiveWire has reset expectations about what a Harley-Davidson motorcycle can be. The first phase of the Project LiveWire Experience tour provided valuable feedback about the features and experience riders expect from an electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle. This year we’re expanding that experience to a global audience to gain even deeper insights from riders to help us shape the future direction of this exciting technology.”
