Some time back Hennessey took a Lotus and pumped it up to a staggering 1200 bhp, then they made it even more appealing by giving it the name ‘Venom’, and we were completely sold. But Hennessey think they can now go one up by making a convertible version.
The end result is a Hennessey Venom GT with a removable roof. The hypercar will still come with the heavily modified 6.2 litre Corvette engine that churns out a staggering 1200 horsepower. The thing is, if the Venom GT Spyder’s top speed is not affected by the missing roof the car will become the World’s fastest convertible car with its top speed of 440 km/h. And that is serious business. As is the price at $ 1.1 million, the Venom GT Spyder is not exactly cheap, but if its exclusivity and a raw driving experience you want the Venom GT Spyder carves out a different niche.
Weighing in at just 1200 kgs and armed with an astonishing torque figure of 1565Nm the Venom GT goes from 0-100 km/h in a ferocious 2.5 seconds. With the roof now gone in Spyder form the growl from the Venom GT’s massive twin turbochargers and the wind in your hair experience pushes the phenomenal Venom GT experience to a whole new level of experiencing savage raw power.
With the Venom GT Spyder, Hennessey might have accidentally aimed their latest monster squarely at the ‘World’s fastest open top car’ title.
