Update: Bajaj has launched the new 2019 Dominar 400 at Rs 1.73.870 (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price, the new Dominar costs around Rs 10,000 more than its previous iteration.
It’s no secret that Bajaj has been working on an updated Domianr 400. You have bike enthusiasts all over India to thank for this, who’ve spotted the test mules on various occasions and captured them in their camouflaged avatar. Now, a new video has surfaced online which captures the updated Dominar 400’s exhaust note. Strangely enough, the new twin-port exhaust sounds very different from the current-gen bike which uses a single stubby unit. In fact, it sounds throatier and louder when revved hard and bassier on idle, so much so that it sounds similar to the new KTM 390 Duke. And we aren’t complaining.

What’s more? The bike also gets a cat converter which hints at the fact that the updated Dominar 400 could be BS-VI ready. This comes in the light of the new government safety emission norms that’ll be imposed from 1 April 2019. That aside, the video also gives us a glimpse of the new layout of the bike’s dual-digital instrument console. We were also the first to report this last month. To elaborate, the handle-mounted console now reads out the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, tell-tale lights, indicators for the side-stand, engine kill switch and service reminder. On the other hand, the tank-mounted instrument console now features an odometer, two trip meters, clock and a gear position indicator. Basically, Bajaj revived the CS 400 concept which was toned down to meet production requirements and keep costs in check.

Moving to the bikes mechanicals, the 2019 Dominar 400 also gets USD forks from Endurance instead of conventional telescopic ones. That said, it's unclear if Bajaj engineers have tuned the suspension as the current bike is a tad on the stiffer side.
The current motorcycle is powered by a 373.3cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill that dishes out 35PS of power at 8,000rpm and 35Nm at 6,500rpm. This comes mated to a 6-speed transmission and a slipper clutch. Refinement issues is something the current bike is known for, so we expect Bajaj to have tackled that issue this time around.

Constant revisions were a part of the Dominar 400 and with the updated components, we could expect a price hike of around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. That’s over the current price of Rs 1.63 lakh for the dual-channel ABS variant (ex-showroom Delhi). With the near-production-ready bike doing its rounds on the roads, and a launch alert from Bajaj, we could expect the 2019 Dominar 400 to be launched next month itself.
