Hero MotoCorp has sent out at an invite for a new product launch on July 14th. The new motorcycle launch will be that of the new Hero Splendor iSmart 110. This really doesn’t come as a surprise as the new Splendor motorcycle was spotted at dealership few weeks back signalling the fact that a launch was around the corner. The Hero Splendor iSmart 110 is a special bike for the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country as it is the first indigenously developed Hero product after the split with its erstwhile partner Honda. The new motorcycle will be the second motorcycle in its portfolio to be equipped with the start-stop system (i3S Technology) that debuted first in the Splendor iSmart.
As the name suggests, the new motorcycle will be powered by a 110cc displacement, single-cylinder air-cooled motor delivering 9.1PS of power and a peak torque of 9Nm. Power will be transferred to the rear-wheel via a 4-speed transmission. Hero’s new powerplant will have to live with the indestructible tag that has been associated with the iconic 97.2cc motor which made it the highest selling motorcycle in India. The i3S (Idle Stop and Start System) technology shuts the engine down after neutral is engaged and the bike idles for five second, once the rider depresses the clutch to engage gear the motorcycle automatically starts thereby reducing fuel consumption.
Fuel efficiency has always been the forte for the Splendor brand and we expect the new Splendor iSmart 110 to deliver over 80kmpl (claimed figure). Expect the new bike to be priced at a slight premium over the Splendor iSmart with an ex-showroom price of around Rs 55,000. The Hero Splendor iSmart 110 will compete against the Honda Livo, Yamaha Saluto RX and the new TVS Victor We will be reporting live from the launch event and will be riding the motorcycle also soon, watch this space for more updates.
