Hero Xtreme 200 S To Launch Tomorrow

Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch the Hero Xtreme 200 S tomorrow i.e. January 30, just a few days before the Auto Expo 2018. The flagship motorcycle was first showcased as a concept at the 2016 Auto Expo but is now set to become the company's most powerful motorcycle in its current portfolio. Although Hero has been very tight-lipped about any pricing details, we are expecting it to be priced around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom).

In terms of styling, the bike isn't too radical and looks like an elder sibling of the Hero Xtreme 150cc motorcycle. It comes with beefy fuel tank extensions that add a dose of muscle to the overall look. To balance the masculine appearance, Hero has offered a large headlamp with integrated DRLs. The multi-spoke alloy wheels get a bright red treatment, along with the tyre hugger, to make it stand out of the crowd. The concept bike showcased a semi-digital instrument console, which is also expected to be carried forward to the production bike.

Hero Xtreme 200 S To Launch Tomorrow

Powering the Hero Xtreme 200 S concept bike was an all-new 200cc, single-cylinder engine, which delivered 18.6PS of power at 8,500rpm and 17.2Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. We are expecting the production model to feature the same engine, but with a bumped up power output to take the fight to its competition.

The Hero Xtreme 200 S utilises a diamond-type chassis, that is suspended on telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the rear. If this setup makes it to the production-spec bike, it will be the only production motorcycle in the company's portfolio to sport a monoshock suspension. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends and ABS is expected to be an optional extra, which is again a first for any Hero motorcycle.

Once launched, it will compete against the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 ABS and the KTM 200 Duke.
