Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) announced that the Activa was the highest selling two-wheeler for March, 2015. Honda managed to sell 2,07,270 units of the popular scooter in March making it the highest selling two-wheeler for the above month. The Honda Activa was the only two-wheeler to record sales of above 2 lakh units thereby dislodging the Hero Splendor from the top which normally leads the charge with respect to sales in the Indian two-wheeler market. The Honda Activa’s domination of the scooter market can be gauged from the fact that it was the only scooter to feature in the top 10 selling two-wheelers in India list for March, 2015. Honda Activa recorded a growth of an impressive 30 per cent with respect to increase in sales.
Speaking on the performance, Yadvinder S. Guleria- Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “This achievement is more significant since Activa (an ATSC) has displaced a motorcycle for numero uno position in Indian 2- wheeler industry. In the journey of becoming India’s No.1 selling 2Wheeler, Activa has broken the glass ceiling as the only ATSC to feature in top 10 selling two-wheelers in India. Today, Activa is not only a market leader but more importantly the growth driver of ATSC segment growing a stellar 30% and surpasses the ATSC segment growth of 25% in FY’2014-15.”
