Honda ADV 150 Adventure Scooter Unveiled In Indonesia

Honda has taken the wraps off the ADV 150 at the 2019 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The off-road-themed ADV 150 is indeed one of a kind in the 150cc scooter segment. It isn’t exactly surprising as Honda has already pioneered the adventure scooter genre with the X-ADV in the middleweight category. So in essence, the ADV 150 is its smaller brother.

It comes with the same design language as the X-ADV, complete with the muscular apron section, split floorboards and an aggressive-looking, high-set rear section. The lighting system is all LED and the scooter features a fully digital negative backlit instrument cluster. Interestingly, the switchgear on the wide handlebars has been lifted off the Honda CB300R. Honda has equipped the scooter with an adjustable windshield and there’s a fairly large underseat storage too.

Underpinnings include telescopic fork and twin Showa gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. Unlike the spoke wheels on the X-ADV, the wheels on this scooter are alloy units, measuring 14 inches up front and 13 inches at the rear. The wheels are shod with dual-purpose tyres (110-section front and 130-section rear). Brakes are petal discs at both ends with a single-channel ABS or CBS.

The scooter is powered by a 149.3cc SOHC single-cylinder engine with Idling Stop System. It produces 14.5PS at 8500rpm and 13.8Nm at 6500rpm. It works in conjunction with a variomatic transmission.

Honda is unlikely to launch this scooter in the Indian market as the 150cc scooter segment itself is a niche here. Moreover, a scooter like this could be really expensive even if Honda decides to assemble it in India, so it doesn’t really make business sense for Honda to launch the ADV 150 here.
