Say Hello To Honda’s First BS6-Compliant Diesel Car, The 2020 Amaze

Price hike for BS6 update ranges from Rs 9,000 to Rs 51,000 depending on the variant

 

  • The Amaze has become the first Honda car to get a BS6-compliant diesel engine.
  • The sub-4 metre sedan is available in seven variants with two engine options.
  • 1.2-litre petrol produces 90PS/110Nm. 1.5-litre diesel puts out 100PS/200Nm (MT) and 80PS/160Nm (CVT).
  • It takes on the likes of the Hyundai Aura, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo.

While most car manufacturers gear up for Auto Expo 2020, Honda has decided to launch the  BS6-compliant Amaze before the show. Priced between Rs 6.10 lakh to Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom India), both engine choices - the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines - have been given the BS6 upgrade. The 2020 Amaze is available in seven variants and here’s how they are priced.

As expected, the petrol variants receive an almost insignificant price hike while the diesel variants are now more expensive by upto Rs 51,000. In the petrol trims, the S and S CVT variants receive the smallest price hike of Rs 9,000, whereas the base E MT variant receives the highest price hike of Rs 17,000. As for diesels, the S and S CVT variants receive the lowest hike at Rs 27,000, whereas the E variant gets a price bump of Rs 51,000. 

Despite the BS6 upgrade, the petrol and diesel engines retain their power and torque figures as well as the 5-speed manual and CVT gearboxes. The 1.2-litre petrol motor makes 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque in both manual and CVT configurations. The 1.5-litre diesel, on the other hand, makes  100PS/200Nm in manual guise and 80PS/160Nm when equipped with the CVT.
