Honda Amaze sells 88000 units in a year

Honda’s first diesel powered car in India and their first compact sedan, the Amaze has been on sale for just about a year now and has sold an impressive 88000 units. The Amaze, available in both diesel and petrol engines goes up against cars like the Suzuki Swift Dzire and the Hyundai Xcent. The Honda Amaze, based on the same platform as the Honda Brio hatchback will also spawn the upcoming Honda Mobilio, an MPV that is expected to hit showrooms early next month.

Powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine that makes 87PS of peak power and 109Nm of peak torque, the Amaze (Petrol) is mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. The highly awaited diesel engine, a 4-cylinder, turbocharged mill produces 100PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque making it the most powerful diesel car in its segment. The powerful diesel engine combined with the well-tuned suspension setup also makes the Amaze one of the best cars to drive in the segment. Speaking on the occasion, Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “Living up its positioning in the market, Honda Amaze has certainly changed many lives with one car. Honda Amaze has been a game changer in its segment and has enabled HCIL to reach out to so many new customers, bringing them into the Honda fold. It is Honda’s constant endeavour to provide freshness to our products and create excitement in the market.”

Honda has also announced that apart from the Mobilio, it will also launch the all-new Honda Jazz early next year. To cope up with the demand for the new City and the Mobilio, a 35 per cent increase in the number of sales outlets or showroom has also been announced. This increase in dealerships will mainly be achieved this year by reaching out to more tier 2 & tier 3. Honda India currently has 172 facilities in 109 cities in its network and this will increase to 230 facilities in 150 cities.
