Honda BR-V Variants Explained

Honda has finally joined the compact SUV bandwagon today with the launch of the BR-V. It has been priced at Rs 8.75 lakh for the base petrol model and the top-end diesel variant at Rs 12.90 lakh. Based on the same platform as the Brio, Amaze and Mobilio, the car sit on 16-inch alloys and has a ground clearance of 210mm which has been claimed by the manufacturer to be the highest in the segment. The BR-V is also the only vehicle in its segment to feature a 7-seater configuration with bench seats for the third row passengers.

The car has been launched with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. Both these come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while the petrol is also offered with a CVT. The petrol gets a 1.5-litre i-VTEC motor that produces 119PS of power and 145Nm of peak torque. The diesel variant makes 100PS and 200Nm from the 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit. The same engines have also been used by Honda to provide motive force to the popular City and Mobilio models. Both the petrol and diesel variants have a 42-litre fuel tank and as per Honda the compact SUV will return a mileage of 15.4kmpl for the petrol manual, 16kmpl for the CVT and 21.9kmpl for the diesel variant.

The compact SUV has been offered in 6 colours shades – Carnelian Red Pearl, Orchid White Pearl, Urban Titanium Metallic, Taffeta White, Golden Brown Metallic and Alabaster Silver Metallic. Honda has configured the BR-V in four different variants which are – E, S, V and VX models.

‘E’ Variant: (Petrol Rs 8.75 lakh, Diesel Rs 9.90 lakh)

The base variant of the BR-V comes with projector headlamps, chrome grille, roof rails, body coloured ORVMs and door handles and LED tail light guide. Inside, the second row gets a 60:40 split seats which can be reclined. While the third row gets seats that can be reclined too, it gets a 50:50 split for better luggage space. It also gets digital controls for the A/C, tilt steering, all four power windows with auto down function for the driver side, day night IRVM, and fabric upholstery.

For safety, the ‘E’ variant has been equipped with dual airbags at the front, front seatbelt pre-tensioner with load limiter, high mount stop lamp and immobilizer. ABS and EBD has been provided only for the diesel model of the base variant.

‘S’ Variant: (Petrol Rs 9.90 lakh, Diesel Rs 10.99 lakh)

Carrying the equipment provided in the base model, the S variant gets rear wiper with defogger, blacked out B-pillars, electrically adjustable OVRMs and dual horn. On the inside, the driver seat has height adjustment and in the second row it has sliding seats. It gets additional features like metal black instrumental garnish with 2-din integrated audio system and speakers, Bluetooth telephony, steering mounted controls, climate control, and rear AC vents. Honda has opted for textured fabric upholstery for this trim. ABS and EBD are standard for both engine options.  

‘V’ Variant: (Petrol Rs 10.90 lakh, Diesel Rs 11.85 lakh)

In addition to the ‘S’ variant, the higher spec ‘V’ trim of the BR-V gets chrome door handles, 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically folding ORVMs with indicators, fog lamps and mudguards. Feature-wise, this trim comes with button start with smart entry, 3D speedometer with multi-function display, armrest for second row and additional tweeters for the audio system. This variant also comes with speed sensing auto lock, security alarm, and impact sensing door unlocking function. The option for CVT gearbox has been offered only for this variant. It features the additional paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for manual gear changes. 

‘VX’ Variant: (Petrol Rs 11.99 lakh, Diesel Rs 12.95 lakh)

The VX is the top-end variant of the BR-V, it comes with all the features of the previous trims in addition to which it gets LED position lamps, front and rear scuff plates, chrome side protector and heat absorbing windshield. Inside, the VX model gets leather wrapped steering wheel, gear knob, door armrest and upholstery.
