Honda is likely to launch its first 200cc ADV real soon. It could be called the Honda NX200, as the name was patented recently. While enthusiasts wait eagerly for the launch, remember that the brand already offers a 200cc adventure bike called the Honda CBF190X in China. Take a look at the detailed images:
The Honda CBF190X is essentially a more rugged, touring-oriented version of the Honda CB190R streetfighter. While the CBF190X gets ADV genes, it isn’t as off-road-centric as the Royal Enfield Himalayan, thanks to the alloy wheels and road-biased tyres.
To go with the ADV demeanour, the angular LED headlamp gets a small lip at the bottom, and there’s a windshield mounted up top. The latter should come in handy to keep the wind blasts at bay, at least to a certain extent.
The bike gets a fairly basic fully digital instrument cluster with a gear position indicator and other regular data. There’s no smartphone connectivity nor turn-by-turn navigation. We hope the India-bound Honda NX200 gets it, though!
The motorcycle is powered by a 184cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine, producing 16.85PS and 16.3Nm. On the other hand, the Honda NX200 is likely to be powered by the Hornet 2.0’s 184.4cc air-cooled fuel-injected motor. The naked bike makes 17.2PS and 16.1Nm.
The motorcycle comes with an inverted front fork, just like the one in the CB190R. And like the naked, this one is also non-adjustable. The bike rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels at both ends wrapped in slightly rugged tyres.
Honda has equipped the bike with petal discs at both ends, linked to a single-channel ABS. However, we think Honda should’ve offered a dual-channel unit at least as an option.
All in all, the Honda CBF190X is great for the highway, although you might have to be wary of the not-so-powerful engine. It can also tackle the occasional trails, if need be. The upcoming Honda NX200 is also likely to be a soft-roader much like the CBF190X.
