Honda will launch the new City Diesel today in Delhi. The car which will be available with both petrol and diesel engines is expected to cost Rs 9.5 lakh for the base petrol and close to 12 lakh for the top of the line diesel variant.
The new Honda City Diesel will be available in five trim levels with the base trim names E and the top of the line trim called VX. The City Diesel VX will get touch screen audio and climate control systems along with a multi-functional steering wheel with controls for audio and a sunroof.
Like the Honda City Diesel, its petrol version will also come in five trims with exactly the same equipment spec. However, the petrol version of the new City will also get an automatic variant missing on the diesel powered version.
The new Honda City Diesel will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine, the same that powers the Amaze with 100PS on tap. It will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and has an ARAI certified fuel economy of 26kmpl, making the new Honda City Diesel the most efficient car in the country.
The petrol City will use the same 1.5-litre, four cylinder engine from the outgoing City. This engine which uses i-VTEC technology for delivering equally good efficiency and power is one of the more refined engines in its class. Having said that, we still expect the majority of the sales to come from the diesel powered new Honda City.
