Last year’s Tokyo Motor Show was unfortunately, not what we were expecting it to be. Apart from Kawasaki, none of the bike makers brought anything exciting with them. However, Honda did showcase an off-road moped concept, the CT125, which is scheduled to go into production later this year. Now, the first set of leaked images have emerged and we are pretty pleased! That’s because the production version of the CT125 looks similar to the concept version!
Although the production-spec CT125 looks similar to the concept version, there are a few differences. The exhaust, still high mounted, is slightly different, hinting that it could be Euro 5 compliant. We also expect the production version to come with a slightly different digital instrument console. And oh, if you zoom in, you can see the tool box at the back.
As of now, Honda hasn’t shared the specifications of the CT125. However, the motor looks similar to the Super Cub 125 and could pump out a similar power and torque figure (9.65PS/10.4Nm). It is equipped with a telescopic fork at the front and dual-shock absorbers at the rear. The concept version had dual-purpose tyres, so we can expect the production model to be offered with the same.
As much as we would like to ride it, we don’t see Honda bringing it to our shores anytime soon. However, Honda is planning to bring something new, something big to our shores. Ever wanted to ride the Rebel 500 or the CBR500R? You might want to check this out then.
