Honda created quite a stir when it launched its sub 4-metre sedan in the Indian market back in 2013. Its diesel variant especially took Honda’s sales figures to a new high quite literally. In just sixteen months Honda sold over one lakh Amazes in India. But off late the car saw quite a slump in its sales mainly due to the fact that it hasn’t received an update yet in its almost three years in the market, until now.
Honda today launched the new Amaze with prices starting at Rs 5,29,900 for the petrol variants and Rs 6,41,900 for the diesel variants. Though the changes made are mainly cosmetic in nature but do give the car a fresh appeal. The new Amaze sports a new chrome grille along with new fog lamp bezels and revised bumpers. Inside, it now comes with a new dash, a new instrument cluster from the Jazz and a new touchscreen infotainment system. Honda have also fit the Amaze with a climate control system, and it will be offered in a choice of seven colours.
The engine options remain the same as before. It will still be powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine from the Jazz and the India specific 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor. The maximum output of the petrol engine stands at 88PS of power and 109Nm of torque whereas the diesel engine makes 100PS of max power and 200Nm of peak torque. According to Honda they have retuned the engines to deliver better fuel efficiency than even before. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission however an CVT option will also be on offer. Airbags will be optional on all variants of the facelifted Honda Amaze. ABS and EBD will be standard across all variants except for the E and S petrol models.
