This off-road oriented concept is based on the Super Cub
  • It gets the 125cc engine from the Grom.
  • Harks back to the Trail Cub models of yesteryears.
  • To debut at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show next month.
  • Of late, Honda has been trying its hand at updating and reviving popular and iconic models from its past, as we witnessed with the Super Cub and the Monkey. Next up on the list is the CT 125 which will make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show next month. The CT or Trail Cub range has been part of Honda’s lineup since 1964, and has historically consisted of mopeds that have been modified for light off-road use.

The CT 125 certainly looks the part, with its Scrambler-style exhaust, large luggage rack at the rear, wire-spoke wheels and knobby tyres. Like the new Super Cub, this CT uses the engine from the Honda Grom, but the rest of the motorcycle is all new. The engine in question is a fuel-injected 124.9cc single-cylinder motor putting out 9.7PS and 10.9Nm. What will also makes things exciting is the lack of weight. The Super Cub that this concept is based on weighs just 109kg fully loaded, and we can expect a similarly low weight for the CT 125 as well, which means that performance should be reasonably sprightly.

From past experience, concepts displayed by Honda at the Tokyo Motor Show do usually go into production soon afterwards. However, like the Super Cub and the Monkey, it’s highly unlikely that we will receive this model in India.
