The upcoming electric scooter could be offered in two power train options
  • Expect Husqvarna to launch the electric scooter by 2022.
  • It could be based on the all-electric Bajaj Chetak.
  • The electric scooter could boast a range of around 95km.
  • Electric mobility is the next big thing in the world of two-wheelers. Every manufacturer in the world is working either on electric scooters or electric motorcycles. Some, like Ducati and Harley-Davidson, are also bringing e-bicycles to the table. Joining this ever-growing list is Swedish bike maker, Husqvarna. In a recent investor’s meet, the brand shared its plan for the coming few years and it includes an electric scooter for 2022.

Details about the Husqvarna’s electric scooter are thin for now. But the manufacturer has revealed that the e-scooter will come in two powertrain options: the entry-level variant with a 4kW Motor and a top-spec model with 11kW unit. A few months ago, KTM had announced that it is also working on an electric scooter with a 4kW motor. Could these two scooters be identical underneath?

Well, we think KTM and Husqvarna will use the Chetak’s platform to create their own version of electric scooters. While the Chetak is an elegant-looking scooter, KTM’s offering could feature a sharper, more aggressive lines while Husqvarna will come up with a premium version of the same scooter. The Chetak offers a range of 95km, so we could expect the Swedish e-scooter to boast a similar figure.

The upcoming electric scooter from Husqvarna is likely to come with all the modern features one could think of. So expect LED lights, a fully digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity and ride modes. Apart from an electric scooter, Husqvarna is also developing an err… electric ‘stand up scooter.’ And it’s exactly what you are thinking. An electric scooter with no seat. However, there’s no official word from the company about its launch as it’s still in the development stages.
