In order to stand out among myriad international brands setting shop in India, DSK-Hyosung has planned to unveil as many as four new motorcycles in the country over the course of the coming 18 months. This move from the Korean company will only add to the excitement in the country’s motorcycle quarters with the coming year or so already slated to witness plenty of new launches.
Among the new introductions from Hyosung will be the all-new GV300 (Aquila 300), the GT300R, the GT650R and the GD450. All these bikes were on display at the EICMA 2015 in Italy and they are now headed to the Indian shores.
The GT300R will be a replacement for the manufacturer’s GT250R model in the market currently. The Hyosung GT300R will feature a 275cc v-twin that pumps 28PS of power and 23.5Nm of torque. This unit will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Expect this bike to be priced in the Rs 3 lakh region when launched around June this year.
Accompanying the GT300R in this segment will be the all new GV300 that was introduced as the Aquila 300 at EICMA last year and will replace the Aquila 250 in the market. Sporting round headlamps and other unique decals, the GV300 will house the same engine as the GV300 beneath the fairing. This all-new bike from Hyosung will set you back by a sum of around Rs 3.5lakh.
Stepping up the power meter for Hyosung will be the street naked GD450. The motorcycle, which was unveiled in concept form at EICMA 2015, is powered by a 449cc liquid-cooled unit that is good for 50PS and 47.7Nm. This engine however will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The GD540 is expected to go on sale next year at a sticker price of around Rs 4 lakh and will give the KTM 390 Duke a run for its money.
Moving on to the most dominant cousin of the lot, the updated Hyosung GT650R will come with the same 647cc, 90 degree, DOHC, V-twin engine, as the previous model, churning maximum power output of 74PS and maximum torque of 54.4 Nm. The size of the tank has been considerably reduced and the facelift looks sharper than ever now. The bike is expected to be launched by mid-2016.
