Hyundai is set to take the wraps off the Alcazar in the first week of April. It’s essentially a longer Creta with slightly different styling, like the Harrier-based Tata Safari. Like most three-row SUVs, the Alcazar will be offered in various seating configurations. It could be one of the most affordable 7-seater SUVs in its segment when it goes on sale by April-end.
The Alcazar will be longer than the standard Creta with a redesigned rear end. As per the spy shots, the Alcazar will feature more conventionally styled LED tail lamps, as opposed to the standard model’s polarising units. Other distinctive elements include a different set of dual-tone alloy wheels and a tweaked grille.
The Alcazar will retain the Creta’s dashboard. The highlight here has to be its middle row. Spy shots revealed the Alcazar’s six-seater captain seat variant with a unique floor-mounted central armrest. A 7-seater variant with bench seats will also be on offer.

It should retain most of the features from the Creta, such as the 10.25-inch infotainment system with connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, cruise control, a 7-inch digital instrument display, a Bose sound system, and automatic climate control. Safety could be covered by six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors with camera, and electronic stability control.

The Alcazar is likely to be powered by 115PS 1.5-litre diesel and 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engines. The 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine could be given a miss. Like the Creta, the diesel engine may be offered with a 6-speed manual and optional 6-speed torque converter, while the turbo-petrol could rely on a sole 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Expect the Hyundai Alcazar to command a premium of Rs 1 lakh over its five-seater sibling, the Creta, priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). It’s likely to be an economical alternative to the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the Mahindra XUV500.
