The new-gen Hyundai Creta is dearer by up to Rs 62,000. The earlier base-spec EX petrol variant is the most affected while almost all other variants have received a uniform price hike of Rs 12,000. Prices of the base-spec E diesel variant remain unchanged.
Coming to the new base-spec E petrol variant, it was already on offer with the diesel engine and has now been introduced in the 1.5-litre petrol lineup. This entry-level variant also drops the Creta’s starting price by Rs 7,000, when compared to the Kia Seltos (Rs 9.89 lakh onwards). It packs bare basics such as remote locking, a manual air-conditioner, electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitor. Nope, no infotainment system with this variant.
We recently drove the new-gen Creta; you can read our first drive review to know our impressions. The Creta is the highest selling SUV in its segment and the latest price hike shouldn’t come its way. It currently faces stiff competition from the Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, and Mahindra XUV500.
