Hyundai Creta Automatic Petrol launched at Rs 13.48 lakh

Hyundai seems to be leaving no stone unturned in order to cash in on the popularity of its compact SUV, the Creta. The car, launched last year, missed only the automatic petrol variant from its line-up till now. But that gap has also been plugged with the recent launch of the new Hyundai Creta petrol automatic for a sticker price of Rs 12.86 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The launch will take effect immediately with Hyundai dealerships now accepting bookings across the country. For now however, the automatic transmission will be available only on the SX+ variant, which is the one below the top-spec SX (O) variant.

Hyundai Creta has been a popular product in India

The company will also be introducing an automatic diesel option in the S+ mid-variant of the Creta. Up till now, the Creta was available with an automatic option only in the SX+ diesel model. The automatic petrol Creta will feature the same 6-speed automatic transmission as used on this diesel variant. Powering it, is the 1.6-litre four cylinder VTVT engine that churns out 123PS of maximum power and 150Nm of peak torque.

In terms of features, the SX+ automatic petrol model gets projector headlamps, chrome grille, chrome door handles, smart key with push button start, automatic climate control, electrically folding OVRMs and a rear viper.

Deliveries could begin during the festive season

As for competition, only the Ford EcoSport gets the petrol automatic while even the Renault Duster’s AMT is restricted to its diesel variant. Other rivals, like the Mahindra Scorpio, the XUV500, and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, remain devoid of a petrol automatic but this move from Hyundai should pave way for such updates from other manufacturers too.

Announcing the launch of the automatic variants, Sr VP (Sales & Marketing), HMIL, Rakesh Srivastava said, “Hyundai Motor India has witnessed tremendous success with the Creta. Introducing the new variant of automatic transmission in Creta showcases Hyundai’s commitment to providing products based on customers wants," and added, "With safety as our priority, we have also introduced Dual Airbags as standard across all Creta variants. The new Automatic variants and enhanced safety features will be instrumental in achieving our aim to be the most preferred car manufacturer in India.”
