Just like the Nios and Grand i10, the new compact sedan could be sold alongside the Xcent
  • Styling closely resembles the upcoming Grand i10 Nios.
  • Expected to use the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines.
  • Both the engines are likely to be paired with an AMT, just like the Grand i10.
  • The Xcent might also be sold alongside the new sedan.

Hyundai has pulled the wraps off the third-generation Grand i10 Nios, while its official launch is slated for August 20. As we all know, the upcoming Nios is technically the replacement for the existing Grand i10. The Xcent, which is the sedan counterpart of the Grand i10, is also likely to make way for a new compact sedan. It has been spied testing abroad and will most likely be similar to the Grand i10 Nios in terms of design.

From the images, the upcoming sedan looks similar to the Grand i10 Nios when it was spied testing a couple of months before. The front-end carries the same design language and one can also notice the LED DRLs which are uniquely positioned in the trademark Hyundai’s cascading grille. The front fascia is expected to stay similar to the Nios while the major differences are focussed towards the rear.

Despite heavy camouflage, the most striking design element from the rear are the large LED tail lamps that stretch onto the boot lid. The design language feels similar to modern Hyundai sedans with the number plate now positioned in the bumper, unlike the current Xcent. The upcoming sedan is also expected to share its interiors with the Grand i10 Nios. It will also feature the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, cruise control and more.

It is also expected to come with thesame set of powertrain options from the Grand i10 Nios. The 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines are expected to be BS6-compliant and will come mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

The Xcent might also be sold alongside the new sedan as a more affordable option, possibly for fleet requirements. Main rivals for the upcoming sedan include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Ford Figo Aspire among others. Expected pricing will range between Rs 6.0 lakh to Rs 9.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
