The Hyundai i10 has surpassed the 20 lakh units sales milestone globally. The total sales of the model are reported to stand at 20.1 lakh units out of which India alone accounts for almost 18.9 lakh units.
Initially, the model was introduced in the Indian market in 2007, before it entered the other markets. Hyundai's Turkey-based plant later began manufacturing an upgraded edition of the same model in 2013 and has since sold 1,19,631 units of this hatch in Europe as well.
The Hyundai was a replacement of the Hyudai Santro and was widely accepted due to its fuel-efficient engine and appealing styling. The South Korean carmaker still sells 2,500- 3,000 units of the old-gen i10 in the Indian market.
The second-geneation model of the i10, known as the Hyundai Grand i10, was launched in August 2013. The i10 wears the company’s fluidic design language. The Hyundai i10 is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. A 1.2-litre Kappa petrol motor and a 1.1-litre U2 CRDI diesel motor does duty under the Hyundai i10 to churn out 83PS of power and 99Nm torque and 71PS of power and 160Nm of torque respectively.
Hyundai exports the i10 to LHD and RHD markets across the world. The carmaker has also began shipping the Hyundai Xcent from late last year.
