Hyundai recently took the wraps off the i20 N Line hatchback as the carmaker’s first N Line model in India. A starting point to Hyundai’s performance focused ‘N’ moniker, it adds a sporty makeover to the standard i20. Here’s all about it ahead of its September 2, 2021 launch in detailed images:
Up front you get a new “chequered flag” mesh front grille with the N Line logo, as well as a more aggressive front bumper, with a nice touch of red contrast on the lower lip.
Head over to the sides, and the red accents are also present on the side skirts to add to the contrast. Look closer, and you’ll notice a bespoke set of 16-inch alloys that feature the ‘N’ logo.
At the rear, you’ll get minor tweaks to the rear bumper with a chrome twin-exhaust muffler. There’s also a roof spoiler with side wings.
Up to six body shades will be on offer. Four monotone shades-- Thunder Blue, Fiery Red, Titan Grey and Polar White, and two dual-tone --- Thunder Blue with black roof, and Fiery Red with black roof.
The sporty additions on the inside include a chequered flag-themed leather seats, red ambient lighting, a new three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters, metal pedals, as well as red inserts and stitching around the seats, gear knob, AC vents, climate controls, and the arm rests. Look closer, and you’ll notice N-Line specific logos on the steering wheel, seats, and gear knob to give it its own identity over the standard model.
Offered in the N6 and N8 trims, the i20 N Line will retain the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and instrument cluster from the standard model, but the driver’s display will have more information. What’s more, it now gets voice commands to control features like the electric sunroof, driver side window controls, live soccer scores, navigation, and contact information.
It will also come with features such as Bose sound system, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push button start, wireless charging, and a cooled glovebox.
Under the hood, you’ll be greeted by a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine making 120PS and 172Nm like the standard i20, paired to either a iMT (clutchless manual) or a DCT transmission. While both the N6 and N8 get the iMT gearbox, the DCT is limited to the N8.
While power remains unchanged in the i20 N Line, Hyundai has given some performance enhancements thanks to a weightier steering, stiffer suspension, and rear disc brakes.
Bookings for the Hyundai i20 N Line are currently open at Hyundai’s Signature dealerships or via its official website at a token amount of Rs 25,000. It will be sold only through Signature outlets, at an expected premium of around Rs 50,00 over the top-spec standard model that retails at Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Volkswagen Polo GT TSI will be its only rival in the Indian market.
