Coming into the new year with burning ambition and in less than three months of its launch in India, the Hyundai Eon (Read : Photo Feature) is now available to customers in three new variants, D-Lite+, Era+ and Magna +. Priced and packaged for the general masses, the Hyundai EON or the new age Maruti 800 as we call it currently offers far more than the bare minimum features that one would expect from a passenger car in this bare bones segment.
Operating in the price band between Rs 2.69 & - 3.71 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Eon (Read : First Drive) was launched in October last year with six different trim levels to choose from. Now with the addition of three additional trim levels, Eon buyers will now find it easier to pick a variant that is equipped with everything they really needed and nothing more.
Among the three new variants on offer, the basic spec ‘D-Lite+’ is loaded with air conditioning, power steering, gift shift indicator and body coloured bumpers and is priced at Rs 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The mid-range ‘Era +’ variant will additionally offer front power windows and central locking features, for which its asking price goes up to Rs 3.12 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi ). And, finally the high-end ‘Magna+’ spec variant that comes with a 2-Din audio system with USB, Aux and many more features has been priced at Rs 3.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is around Rs. 30,000 cheaper than the absolute top-end Sportz variant.
Speaking about the new variants, Mr H W Park, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “The D-Lite plus offers a host of features all for less than Rs 3 lakh. Similarly, Era+ and Magna + also offer enhanced features. The idea behind the new variants is to offer extra value to our customers.”
While, the addition of three new variants will make for an easier buying decision among Eon enthusiasts, Hyundai has also extended the choice of drivetrain options on the vehicle with the introduction of a LPG spec model, which like we saw on the new i10 is part of the company’s Blue Drive (eco-friendly) model range and comes with a factory-fitted separate petrol (32 litres) and LPG (34 litres) configuration.
Being offered on all variants including the three new ones, the LPG propelled Eon models are all priced around Rs 27,000 higher than the gasoline spec variants, but long-term savings are a given as the Eon runs over 1,200 kilometres on a full tank of LPG and petrol.
