There is no indignity in admitting that Hyundai has come into the new year once again relying heavily of the jaw dropping sales of its A2 segment alone, which with recent value additions like the entry-level small car, the EON and environment friendlier variants of its i10 model are well poised to carry forward their dominance into the new year.
In the first month of the New Year, Hyundai registered decent sales figures, fuelled largely by its rapidly growing domestic sales, which grew by a healthy 11.85 percent owing to the company’s sale of 33,900 cars in the month of January alone.
Exports also recorded a robust growth of 22.9% with 16,001 units being shipped out of the country, which along with domestic sales earned the company an aggregate sales figure of 49,901 units for the month of January 2012.
Commenting on the January sales, Mr Arvind Saxena, Director Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “The year seems to have started on a positive note, domestic sales are showing some buoyancy. But we will have to cautiously watch how this momentum picks up in the months ahead.”
The segment-wise cumulative sales for January 2012 are:
A2 segment 44,960 units (Eon, Santro, i10, i20)
A3 Segment 4,797 units (Accent and Verna)
SUV Segment 144 units (Santa Fe)
